Reshaping of the nose, also known as rhinoplasty, is one of the most common of all facial plastic surgery procedures. Rhinoplasty can change the size of the nose, change the shape of the tip or the bridge, or narrow the width of the nose. Rhinoplasty is sometimes combined with surgery to correct nasal airway difficulties.
Teenagers are a common age group for surgery, with adolescent girls having surgery at a younger average age than adolescent boys.
Rhinoplasty is performed on an outpatient basis, meaning that patients go home shortly after the procedure has been completed. At our facility, rhinoplasty can be performed under local, IV, or general anesthesia.
Rhinoplasty procedures usually take an hour or two. Most rhinoplasty patients are back to school or work in about one week.
