EYELID LIFT

Eyelid surgery, called blepharoplasty by surgeons, is used to correct loose and sagging skin around the eyes. Patients who desire an eyelid lift often express displeasure with the bulging fat deposits beneath the eyes or the hanging skin of the upper eyelids. The appearance of the eyelids can be greatly improved by excising extra skin from the upper and lower eyelids. Removing the deposits of fat beneath the skin can treat the puffy bags below the eyes. The fat can be reached by without any visible, external incisions. Wrinkled skin surrounding the eyes can be resurfaced using laser technology.

Eyelid surgery can be done alone, or in conjunction with other procedures such as facelift, browlift, or necklift.

Eyelid surgery is done on an outpatient basis, which means that the patient goes home an hour or so after the surgery. Eyelid surgery can be performed under local, IV, or general anesthesia. The procedure usually takes one to two hours, depending on whether the upper and lower eyelids are being performed together.
