Individual wrinkles and unsightly facial lines are the main targets of collagen therapy. Collagen can be helpful in improving vertical furrows between the eyebrows, the laugh lines next to the mouth, and the creases above the lips. Collagen treatment can be used to plump the lips, as well.

Before treatment can proceed, two collagen allergy tests must be performed. Each test injection is placed into the arm and the patient monitors the area for three weeks. If no sign of allergic reaction has occurred, the patient receives a second test injection on the fourth week.

Once collagen therapy has commenced, additional treatment will be necessary as the collagen gradually disappears over a period of 2-4 months.
